Strong Community Partnerships

Tempo Plastics has been involved with Georgian College’s Design and Visual Arts students for many years.  Chris Figgures, Georgian Design and Visual Arts instructor, joined forces with Tempo Plastics marketing team, to provide a hands on, real life/work experience contest that provides his students the opportunity to learn directly from a flexible packaging manufacturer.

Georgian College Students design the Microwave-a-bowl stand up pouch.

Each year Tempo provides the current class a creative brief, walking them through concept, applying design to the dieline, right through to printing and manufacturing of the bag. This partnership has become a tradition between the college and Tempo for the last five years running. Students are given the task of designing a flexible packaged based on the creative brief, with full support and visits from our marketing department to assist them along the way.

At the end of the design contest, Tempo selects the top winning student designs and invests in the full process of prepress, plate making, printing and converting them into finished packages. Tempo has also submitted these winning designs to the PAC Global Leadership and Canadian Leadership Awards each year with great success, bringing in a gold and three silver awards to date.

Georgian College top winning student designs can be found in our Innovation section of the our website! Read the full article on Georgian College’s website.
